My painting "Nature Lovers" captures a moment of pure childhood wonder, inspired from a photograph that deeply resonated with a sense of nostalgia. This particular topic appealed to me precisely because it evokes memories of simpler times spent playing out in nature with the innocent curiosity of youth.

In creating this piece, I aimed to produce the spontaneity and luminous qualities characteristic of Joaquin Sorolla's work. I approached the painting with a direct, alla prima method, applying wet paint into wet paint. This allowed for an immediate and energetic translation of the scene, using visible brushstrokes to convey the dazzling sunlight. I particularly focused on rendering the skin tones with the same warmth and vibrancy often seen in Sorolla's figures, using delicate pinks to capture their youthful glow. Similarly, the lively greens of the grasses were painted with a bold, directness inspired by his techniques.

The varied palette, from the mauves and blues of their uniforms to the warm skin tones and the bright greens and soft sandy hues of the landscape, speaks to the richness of the moment. I hope this painting invites you to feel the innocent curiosity of childhood, the warmth of a sunny day, and an appreciation for the simple joys of discovery in nature, and perhaps even a touch of your own nostalgia for the past.
