European Starling 5”x7” (Sound on 🎶✨)

Fun Fact: So this fella has a rather infamous background. In 1890, a man released 60 European Starlings in New York’s Central Park. This was part of his goal to have every bird mentioned in Shakespeare’s works live in North America. Unfortunately, they multiplied rapidly and became largely responsible for the near decimation of the Eastern Bluebird population. The starlings essentially took over the best nesting places.

People have since rallied to save the Eastern Bluebirds. I’ve been to Enniskillen Conservation Area (@cloca_ca) with my sister where we’ve seen them firsthand. There are special nesting boxes for bluebirds with entry holes designed to be too small for starlings to enter.
