Northern Flicker 7”x5” (Sound on 🎶✨)

Fun Fact: Unlike most woodpeckers, Northern Flickers are loyal to their breeding territories and return to the same sites year after year. This is unfortunate for my neighbours, who now have five holes in their siding! These pairs often excavate separate roosting holes close to one another in wood or rotting trees. Once the chicks arrive, the male takes over nest duties. Even if the holes are filled in the fall, the pair often returns to excavate fresh ones the next spring, as this particular pair has been doing.
